- Have a foundational understanding of adaptive nociceptive driven pain mechanisms
- Have a foundational understanding of neuroplasticity and its relationship to pain
- Have a foundational understanding of persistent maladaptive pain and its mechanisms and physiology
- Have a foundational understanding of beliefs and expectations and their role in persistent pain
JUSTIN DUNAWAY PT, DPT, OCS
Dr. Dunaway received his doctorate in physical therapy from Youngstown State University and has worked in outpatient physical therapy with special interests in orthopedic manual therapy, spine symptoms, and chronic pain. Justin has completed extensive training in manual therapies and received multiple certifications including: spinal manipulation (Cert-SMT), dry needling (Cert-DN), board certification as an Orthopedic Specialist (OCS), a graduate diploma in Extremity Manipulation, and the Therapeutic Pain Specialist certification (TPS).
Dr. Dunaway is currently lead faculty for the Institute of Clinical Excellence and has experience teaching manual therapy seminars for the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy and The Manual Physical Therapy Alliance. He is also the president of STAND: The Haiti Project. This organization recruits multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams and brings them to rural Haiti in order to deliver much needed care to the people living at the crossroads of poverty and disability.
